2020 Nominations Committee Report for 2021
The following is a list of our Governance and Leadership Teams. A brief introduction provides some insight into the work that goes on in the ministry of the local church. The descriptions are far from complete, but are intended to give persons who might be interested in serving in the respective ministry areas of this local church an idea of the typical or more routine responsibilities that are undertaken.
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
Church Council provides for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources in the local church. It also provides for the administration of its organization and temporal life. It shall envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the mission and ministry of the church.
The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) focuses on building strong relationships between the staff and the congregation and between the congregation and district superintendent. It also handles the administrative tasks related to personnel matters of the church

The Finance Committee proposes a budget for the church and, after approval, monitors income and expenses in comparison to the budget. The Finance Committee is supported by a Finance Support Team that consists of a Financial Coordinator and volunteers with finance experience.
The Trustees oversee, maintain, and supervise all local church property.

First Foundation encourages, receives and distributes current and estate gifts to support the ministry of First United Methodist Church of Madison. Established in 1965, the First Foundation is available to members and friends of First United Methodist Church who want to make a gift that will last a lifetime and beyond.
Program Council provides support for Church Council by acting as an umbrella for our many programs, ministries, and committees. This group is tactical rather than strategic in its activities which are aimed at providing support, oversight, and resources for those ministry groups engaged in fulfilling the mission of First Church.
