Let’s welcome spring by celebrating Earth Day!
As you may or may not remember, ‘Earth Day’ was founded in 1970 by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, who spearheaded efforts for a national day to be focused on environmentalism. In 1990, Earth Day was adopted globally! Earth Day has also expanded to the entire month of April with many activities as ‘park play clean-up activities’ sponsored by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, ‘Earth Fest’ sponsored by University of Wisconsin which includes exhibits, eco challenges, musical events and more.
Google: ‘Earth Day Wisconsin’ and you will find many activities scheduled around the state during the month of April.
Below is just another example of something you can do:
WHAT: T-Shirt Transformation Workshop – This workshop is free.

EVENT: Make and Take Creations – turn a t-shirt into a dog toy, necklace, superhero cape and more at the activity stations.
Refresh your Style: Give your shirt a new look with cutting techniques guided by fashion and textile artist Emily Popp.
Create Together: Work with the Textile Arts Center on a large-scale fabric collage inspired by Monona Terrace’s windows.
Discover Textile Art: View “Once Upon A Shirt”, a quilt exhibit made from men’s shirts by Madison fiber artist Pam Bell.
ALSO – The first two Sundays in May our Green Team will be planning some special activities at First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Ave Madison. Stay tuned.
