Over our nearly two centuries of ministry, First Church has been a generous church and its people have developed a culture of giving for the present strength of our ministries and in order to fulfill the vision and witness into the future.
There are multiple ways to give to First Church, and whether it's through your time, abilities, or resources, all make a lasting impression on our mission and ministry.
Thank you for considering how you can be a part of our shared work!

As United Methodists, we believe we are stewards: of the earth, of our communities, and of our relationships. The giving of our financial resources, as we are able, is one way we live into our role as stewards of this community.
Every year, First Church launches a Stewardship Appeal to members and nonmembers asking for annual pledges to support the church programs and help meet the financial needs of the church. Making an annual pledge allows the church to plan for the program year and to ensure our necessary expenses are covered. Giving is easy with automatic monthly contributions from your checking or savings account and makes for easy budgeting for you and the church.
If you're interested in giving to First Church through a stock transfer, access the stock transfer form or please contact Kelly Walling. Stock transfers are executed by the Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation free of charge.
First Foundation is a wonderful way to make a meaningful and lasting gift to First Church. Find out more about the foundation here.
Special Giving Sundays
Throughout the year, the United Methodist Church undertakes six special giving Sundays, each supporting unique and specific ministries within the life of the global church. First Church is proud to join in this legacy of special giving. Find out more about these special giving Sundays here.
Lyons Lecture Series
The David P. Lyons Lecture in Theology was established to honor the memory and ministry of Rev. David Lyons. Each spring a distinguished scholar is invited to share insight and understandings in the areas related to theology, biblical interpretation, religious history, and spirituality. Contributions to the Lyons Lecture or Endowment can be made here.
Flower & Coffee Sponsorship
Flowers for the Sanctuary and coffee and treats for the Fellowship are made possible through sponsorships. You may sponsor a lovely bouquet of Chancel Flowers and/or coffee and treats for Coffee Fellowship by signing up via online or visiting the Welcome Center on Sundays or by email or phone (608-256-9061). We appreciate your support in making Sunday even more special.
We are continuing the flower sponsorship program because we are now recording our Sunday service in the church's Sanctuary. Flowers are featured in the sermon and music portions of the recordings. Dedications are included in the eNews email and in the recordings.
We will NOT be continuing the coffee sponsorship program into the foreseeable future in order to keep members, staff, and kitchen volunteers safe. Brooke Seeliger will be contacting members who have already signed up and/or paid for their coffee sponsorships.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Brooke Seeliger at or call (608)256-9061 and leave a message.
On Easter Sunday, a beautiful selection of spring flowers--sponsored by members--fill the Sanctuary chancel reminding us of the joys of spring and renewed life. Flowers may be purchased in honor or in memory of loved ones whose names will appear in a bulletin insert on Easter Sunday. Flowers may be taken home to enjoy after Easter service. Members are notified when the ordering season begins but please feel free to contact the Welcome Center for more information.
First Church is committed to an active role in social justice issues that impact our downtown community and the world at large. We have built partnerships with groups who share our passion for helping others and working toward equity and equality for all. You may wish to support one or more of these groups through your service or giving.
