Are you interested in learning how to ride the Madison Metrobus? A group of us will take a ride on the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Sunday, June 8th. We plan on taking the ‘A’ bus after church at 11:24 am from the Capitol to either Hilldale Mall or to Oakwood Village. The choice of where to get off is yours, but both places have restaurants where we plan on having lunch together. If you don’t want to go out for lunch and just have the experience of riding the bus, you can get off the bus and just catch the next bus back to the church. Josie Gobel will be the leader of the group that gets off at Hilldale, and Carolyn Betz will lead the group that gets off at Oakwood Village. We’ll ride the bus back to the Capitol when it’s convenient. Busses run about every 15 minutes.
If you’re a senior, a student under 17, have a medical disability or are low income, you can ride for only one dollar, but you must contact Madison Metro in advance with proper identification to register your Metro Fast Fare Card to get the discount. Wheelchairs, other mobility devices, and bicycles can be safely brought on board.
We will leave the church around 11:00 to allow plenty of time to walk to the bus stop and purchase a pass if you don’t already have one. The bus stop is in front of the Post Office, only a few minutes’ walk from the church.
If you have not registered a Metro Fast Fare card, you can pay with cash or credit card at the kiosk at the bus stop. However, your fee will be $2.00 per ride. The kiosk does not give change, so if you plan to pay by cash bring single dollar bills.
