United Women In Faith

About United Women In Faith

United Methodist Women seek “to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.” The UWF host a variety of service opportunities as well as small group “circles” and fellowship events. Contact  Emily Ford  or Josie Gobel  to get involved.

All women are invited to become active members of the United Women in Faith. It is not necessary to be a member of the United Methodist Church in order to participate.

UWF was founded almost 150 years ago as UMW, and as the largest women’s Christian group in the nation, continues to focus on ministries to and for women, children and youth beyond our walls, in our community and in the world at large. We have a rich heritage, but this is not the organization of our foremothers. We continue to be open to new ideas and receptive to new ways of being a part of our local faith community and our international organization.

The Reading Program

The Reading Program encourages members to think critically about current issues through an annual selection of member-reviewed books. It offers an excellent opportunity to deepen spirituality and to broaden understanding of our mission work.

Every year the UWF national organization recommends a diverse range of books to broaden exposure to a variety of concepts. They are organized into the following categories:

  • Education for mission
  • Nurturing for Community
  • Social Action
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Leadership development

Many of these books can be found at the public library or on the special UWF Reading Program shelves in our church library.
