Green Team Times – June 2026

By Josie Gobel

Every year the Green Team at First United Methodist Church does a series of lectures or activities around some topic of sustainability. I am very excited to share with you two presentations that were put on at our church. Both programs were recorded and are linked below. Each speaker was very informed and gave an engaging presentation. Please take the time to view their presentations – you won’t be disappointed.

1. Professor Anna Haensch did a very informative presentation on ‘Data Centers’ – especially focusing on their status in Wisconsin. Anna is a Research Associate Professor at the UW-Madison’s Data Sciences Institute and Associate Director of the Digital Scholarship Hub at UW’s Libraries. 2. Gale Kirklings’s presentation was on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Gale is a newer member of our church who is from Madison, but currently lives in the Chez Republic. Gale has an extensive career that has led him to using AI in many capacities. He shared with us some of his wealth of experiences with AI to help us understand how AI is used today and the delicate balance between the good and the potential harm of AI. I hope everyone is keeping an eye on the coming elections on November 3rd. Please research the candidates and don’t forget to vote!
