Adopt-a-School Update: June 2026

Another busy year wrapped up at Hawthorne on June 10!

Teacher Appreciation Day went well with FUMC providing lunch for the teachers.

Thank you to members of our Green Team for visiting Antonio at the Hawthorne gardens to investigate what it will take to help make the gardens useful next year. If you are interested in helping in the gardens, please contact the Green Team or Kathy Carpenter

Summer school will be held at Hawthorne and the food pantry will remain open throughout the summer.  Current donations needed are:

  • Snacks (Goldfish, Cheezits, fruit roll-ups, whole grain crackers and pretzels, Skinny Pop popcorn, Pirate’s Booty, granola bars, etc.)
  • Toiletries—feminine products, toothpaste, shampoo, unscented soaps
  • Pull up underwear for older students with disabilities—3rd-5th grade—Goodnites brand L-XXL (can be found at Target)
  • Summer clothes (shirts, shorts—sizes 6Y-16Y, Youth XS to XL)
  • Food Pantry items:
laundry detergent, dryer sheets, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, rice, beans, breakfast cereals

Thank you kindly for all the donations you regularly drop off in the bin at the church. Your caring and generosity are truly faith in action. The next meeting with Demco, FUMC and Hawthorne will be held July 8 at 2:00pm. You are welcome to attend and learn about our partnership.
